Heartbreak.

Have you any idea how it feels,

when a 13-year relationship ends in a day? A day of wandering and bargaining and compromise and POOF. It's over.

We started slow. I was unsure, but you taught me and I learnt a lot. We spent many hours, many many days together. I looked forward to your stability and how much fun you were even though often, I just used to sit by you. You helped me out so much.

We definitely had our ups and downs. You had your problematic days and I had my impatient ones. But things always sorted themselves out. You were really good that way.

But now it's over, in what I am afraid may be an impulsive moment.

Even if I did make a good decision, I'm gonna miss you sorely. The sounds unique to you, your smoothness. All those memorable conversations I had thanks to you.

On the 6th of March 2010, I bought my first laptop. Farewell, desktop.

Welcome to my room, laptop. You've got a lot to live up to.

The style used in this post is not original. It was inspired by Subra, who used it a couple of years back on his blog. (He was talking about stopping the subscription to the Sports channels. If I remember right.)

The Popular bookstore at NTU closed down at the start of the semester, and the new bookstore is just settling in. I happened to walk by today, and stepped in for a look.

There were a couple of tables with books selling at $2 each!

Obviously, I couldn't resist.

I bought:
1) The Age Of Innocence by Edith Wharton
2) Ramses - The Son of the Light by Christian Jacq
3) A secret for a friend!

=]

Went to The Black Box today, met Kabi, Sofia, Jia Yi, Jenn, Shafie( =] ), finally heard Shafie and Kabi speak in Tamil!

Jas and I now have our CsIA greeting =]

sense of fellowship

shreya says:

Hitsugaya Jasmine says:

shreya says:
ah okay that sounds excellent

Hitsugaya Jasmine says:
take it in that context then

shreya says:
yep!

Hitsugaya Jasmine says:
just that it's tedious to keep typing so we'll shorten it to "comrade" hahaha

shreya says:

Hitsugaya Jasmine says:

shreya says:

Hitsugaya Jasmine says:

Oh no, Graffiti's CD cover got slightly cracked today =(

And I just volunteered to write a movie review for one of the school papers!

Ok, back to work on the Resume and 105 Assignment.

Recess Week is over, Year 1 is 3/4 done.

Having a blog and not wanting to let it degenerate makes me chronicle my life, because I don't have time to write about things other than incidents [such as my Opinions on Matters (sorry, I'm reading Dickens and I think he would sympathise with my capitalisation)].

Finally had shaved ice at Canteen 2 with Geraldine and Alina before Recess. It was called Mango Mania and it was good. Geraldine and I wanted to sign up for a six-hour writing competition but we decided at the last minute that we didn't have enough time =\

Went back to school on Monday of recess for biz law make-up seminar, and biz law presentation group meeting after that. I usually take 36 from my house to City Hall MRT when I'm going to school. My head was busy trying to understand Plato's The Republic and I sat next to someone sleeping who looked like Zonghe. The person woke up after a while, and it WAS Zong. =S At least, I get to catch up with friends this way - bumping into them at unexpected places.

On the way home with Seok Peng, we were convulsing in silent laughter over a guy who had a contraption sticking outta his bag, we called it a bomb detector. I know it doesn't sound funny here, but we were mightily tickled then. We 'stalked' him till he got off the MRT, concocting a whole story about how SMRT had employed him and how he was a secret agent. Don't roll your eyes please.

Fadilah and I exchanged numbers before Recess so we could meet up for cycling with Di and Yuv, but that didn't work out either, cos the latter two were too busy. Oh well. Summer hols! Recess was so busy that I didn't get to go for a run even once.

The computer's hard disk crashed! I made back-up copies of my stuff, but that was sometime last August, which means all my MSN convos since then and ALL my uni stuff and a bit of music and other things are lost! Dad said he knows how hard it is to lose everything so suddenly, and sent it for data recovery, which is a costly affair with no guarantee of results. (It's too complicated to explain here and you probably don't wanna know details anyway right.) He said not to worry about the cost, but I feel bad anyway. It's not like I can't live without that stuff, but there's a lot of sentimental value (all those all-nighters I pulled to finish those essays!) and besides, there's some stuff in there that's really important. So I wasn't able to use the computer for a few days till we got a new hard disk and installed Windows and the works on it. (We couldn't just format the existing disk and use it cos it was a hardware problem, the arm inside wouldn't move. This is also why the data is possibly recoverable - it's there, but can't be read.)

I've been trying to avoid getting a laptop all this while, but there's a fair this weekend and Dad said we should go check it out.

And this is why I trust pen-and-paper more than the computer.

Met Colin (fellow last-minuter), Zabid and Izzy at the first-ever Starbucks in Singapore on Tuesday of Recess. (The one near Borders at Orchard.) Zabid gave me that info, he was working at Starbucks for a while. He also told me about the symbol. She's a Siren. And her hair didn't use to cover her till some years back.)

Went to watch Shakespeare's Twelfth Night put up by students at LASALLE. The Dean of the drama faculty directed it, and Eggie was Assistant Director!! It was so cool, and the play was great. LASALLE is a really interesting place, I should go have a more detailed look someday. The students are mostly overseas ones, I think.

I've got 15 library books (NTU plus NLB) on my table apart from my courses' numerous texts. Fine, three of them are unnecessary at the moment, being random fiction, but I wanted some light reading for a change. (Plus, one of then is A Thousand Splendid Suns, which I placed a reservation for at the START of the year and only received now, so I couldn't let it go.)

The juniors' A-Level results came out on Friday of recess, so I decided to go down to VJ. Met Rama (lil bro) and Michael first, way ahead of time, and took a walk to BK at the beach, while Rama updated me about his life. Walked back to VJ when it was time, and I finally got to meet all my juniors and Rama's friends (especially Vy's Cowrade!). Went to Suntec with them later, with Vejaya and Rudra, and made quite a ruckus at Swensens. =D Everyone was getting bathroom-related nicknames (gosh the horror =P), and thanks to Joel, I got a nice one - the lavender spray =D It was a fun day.

Other things I had to do during Recess:
Study for CS117 mid-term
Look for Singapore poetry for HL105 assignment and look for secondary sources
Think of a thesis statement and start HL105 Assignment
Read Abraham's Promise
Read The Republic
Read criticisms of The Republic in prep for group presentation
Do up slides for biz law presentation
Read Hard Times
Do up draft of Resume
Think about HL103 assignment
Start reading The Aeneid?

REPLY TO EMAILS.

Lotsa birthdays coming up!

=D

On the way to Vivo to meet Rama:

Shreya: If I go for exchange, I'd like to go to the US, but I would go to the UK just to hear the English accent!

Amu: Haha yea it's so cool!

Shreya: They'd be all "Wot time is it?" hahaha!

Amu: And I'd go "*gasp* SAY IT AGAIN SAY IT AGAIN!" HAHA.

In a hurry

So much has been happening. I tried to make a list of all the things I should mention here (during 105 lecture) but it didn't work out. Prof Tangney told us about how a person can be defined in terms of accidents (meaning actions, not carcrashes). So this is, in a very simplistic way, is how the past few days have been defined:

Got a volunteering position for the Youth Olympic Games, as French translator! I'm excited but really nervous, and went to the Alliance Francais website to have a look at the french lessons they offer =S

Finally met Reema! for frozen yoghurt at Parkway at 8pm and a walk home after that.

Had a poetry reading session to relax, with Geraldine and Alina, they found an awesome contemporary American poetry book which we photographed so we would know the ISBN number and be able to get the book someday.

Jasmine and I made plans concerning another friend, and ended up sounding like we were going to kidnap him, on Jasmine's skateboard =D We were trying to talk formally on MSN, but ditched the idea after a while.

I lost a bookmark made by kids from MINDS which I'd bought for charity =( Retraced my steps around school to look for it but couldn't find it. Colin sympathised with my theory that a particular LT is a thief, cos we've both lost things in there.

Ronnie told me how to become an SA (which is something like an OGL)! I just hope Orientation doesn't clash with YOG. And he also told me to get a move on with the assignments this holiday =D

Watched Rush Hour 2 for my pop culture module! Love the humour in there, but didn't notice the stereotypes before.

Going to St John's Island tomorrow! Camping trip. And going to a friend's house later today. So much for getting started on assignments.
